The main criticisms have related to its fairly average driving dynamics and an underpowered entry-level T3 petrol engine. The Volvo XC40 has received particular praise for its build quality, refinement, styling and extremely high safety standards. Confusingly, the ‘Recharge’ name is also used for the plug-in hybrid versions.
